An Authorised Vehicle Verifier (AVV) is a person who has been granted approval by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications (the Department) to carry-out the inspection & verification process of a RAW modified vehicle to allow entry on the RAV system to allow for first registration in Australia. The AVV's role is to give the Department, road vehicle owners, and the public more broadly, greater assurance of the integrity of road vehicles modified or manufactured by a registered automotive workshop (RAW). AVV approval holders assess these road vehicles for compliance with the applicable national road vehicle standards that apply.

Under the RVS legislation, certain road vehicles cannot be entered on the Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV), or provided into the market for the first time in Australia, until they have been verified by an approved AVV. This includes vehicles manufactured or modified by a RAW approval holder in accordance with an approved Model Report.
An AVV’s role is to assure vehicle owners that imported road vehicles have been manufactured or modified in accordance with an approved Model Report by a registered automotive workshop (RAW).
An AVV is engaged by either a RAW approval holder (on behalf of a vehicle approval holder, or as the vehicle approval holder), or directly by the vehicle approval holder (a concessional RAV entry, non-RAV entry import or reimportation import approval) to verify a road vehicle.
You need to have a completed the latest version of a Model Report allocated to a specific vehicle. Reference should be made to the Model Report verification checklist which can be found on ROVER website & follow links to the Road Vehicle Standards (Model Reports) Determination 2020. The version of the checklist provided (with a unique identifier) should be the same version as provided by the Department. A RAW’s declaration confirming that the details given are true and accurate & that the vehicle was manufactured or modified in accordance with an approved Model Report must be completed.
A clear copy of the Export certificate should also be presented.
YES, You need to pay another fee to AVVA to carry-out a further inspection on a particular vehicle which failed an inspection and that fee has to be paid in advance of inspection.

If AVVA is not satisfied that the details given by the RAW declaration, we will record the reasons why you we are not satisfied and we WILL NOT proceed to the next stage of verification. AVVA may either seek further information from the RAW to clarify the identified issues with the declaration OR completed RAW verification report with a result that the AVVA will not be able to verifying the vehicle & the Department will be advised accordingly.
AVVA will make contact via the Client portal and if the problem can be rectified, you will ask to re-book for another inspection to complete the verification process.
